heart and soul of the Cowboy Shooting Club ‘The Shadow Riders” based in
Long Island, NY. Rusty died of a
heart attack on 1/20/03. No words
are adequate to explain how much he will be missed.

In over ten years of publishing the Sportsmen’s
Courier, I never had to report a more upsetting, heart-felt loss than that of
the passing of a friend. Joseph
Parkhill, aka Rusty Colt to his cowboy shooting buddies, died at age 46 of a
heart attack on Jan 20, 2003. Many may
have known him as the manager of T&T Gunnery in Seaford, Long Island. For others, such as myself, I knew him as a
friend with outstanding leadership qualities, whose enthusiasm for Cowboy
Shooting made the sport both an exciting and fun-filled experience for
all. Rusty was the heart and soul of
the Shadow Riders Cowboy Shooting Club based in Long Island’s
Suffolk County. His hard work,
dedication and his knowledge of the Old West added realism and intrigue to the
events held by the Shadow Riders. His limitless warmth and concern for friends added a sense of
family to the Shadow Riders that will live on in the hearts and
minds of all that had the pleasure of calling him friend. Joe leaves behind his wife Sue, aka Sue
Sassi, and his children Joey and Nicole.
No words are adequate to explain how much he will be missed.
In great sorrow, His Friend Forever, Tony Giammarino,
Publisher of the Sportsmen’s Courier
